Monkey see Monkey Do?

We were sitting in the car in Nevis and a troop of monkeys very casually loped across the dirt road in front of us. They seem to have no fear and most of them disappeared into the forest beside the road but one curious monkey remained and stared at us for the longest time. He turned his head to the side as if he would have a better view and I turned my head. He scratched and I scratched, who is the monkey?
